Livestock is one of the four major pillars of the economy of Balochistan and contributes more than 50 percent of Balochistan’s Agriculture GDP and 10 percent of the overall Provincial GDP. This economic performance is achieved even though the livestock sector possesses great potential to grow more. Nowadays, the Government of Balochistan acknowledges that the livestock sector can contribute much more to the economic growth and development of Balochistan, that’s why the Animal Health Information System is being launched. Due to joining the hub of information, it is hoped that the livestock sector, its actors, and its value chains overall will step forward to be transformed into a modern and revenue-generating sector. I am delighted to launch the first-ever Animal Health Information System, which is a stepping stone towards circulating the information and wellbeing for the entire livestock sector. I am confident that due to information spread through this System, the sector will advance and attract livestock keepers of Balochistan.

Assignment of special duties in case of diseases outbreak (Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, Anthrax, FMD, PPR etc.)
Provision of proven good breeding bulls and artificial insemination services for the improvement of local breeds
Disease Investigation facilities at Disease Investigation Laboratory Quetta and at district diagnostic units
Provision of linkage between farmers and different organizations to the uplift livestock production system
Provision of sufficient quantities of vaccines and veterinary drugs for immediate control of diseases
Provision of artificial insemination facilities to animals for better production at the farm`s doorstep
Prompt reporting of disease outbreak to Disease Investigation Laboratory and Epidemiologist
Control and treatment of Ecto (external) and Endo (internal) parasites
Relief activities during any disaster like flood and drought for livestock
Distribution of pedigreed rams/male calves of local & exotic breeds
Prophylactic Vaccination against contagious/infectious diseases
Conservation of Indigenous Livestock through subsidy schemes
Production of quality semen at Semen Production Unit
Provision of veterinary aid to sick and injured animals
Elimination of scrub male stock through castration
